MARIA RAO showcases her Luxury Pret collection “MARIPOSA” at the Pakistan Fashion Week Doha

This year Maria Rao showcased her first Fashion Week collection in PFWDOHA season 2. Maria Rao’s Collection, MARIPOSA, is inspired by Butterflies. “Since I was a little girl I have been mesmerized by not only the beauty but the life that this delicate creature adds to nature. Even flowers, to me, are like propelled butterflies which makes the bond between the two even greater”, Says Maria Rao.
This collection is like poetry, the use of monochromatic polka dots and geometric patterns representing the mundane where life is added through Flowers and Butterflies, drifting in color, illuminating spring. The Fabric used is Silk, Charmuse, Chiffon and Georgette juxtaposed with cut work , embellishment  and chain work with modern silhouettes.
The collection is a play between Floral motifs on Polka dots and consists of experimenting with different looks and cuts. The silhouettes are kept simpler in order to not let the print on print treatment go overboard.

DESIGNER BIOGRAPHY:
Maria Rao is a self-made designer, who started her career at a plump age of 16. It is hard for many to believe that someone so young can take on so much, but that is the truth nonetheless. She started with working for close friends and family members but her clientele soon grew. In Just a few years she had her own workshop with dedicated tailors and workers. She may not have graduated from a fashion design school but her hand on experience speaks volume of her knowledge in the field which is clearly apparent through her work and appreciation of her customers. She truly believes that style should not be restricted.
