Couturier Honey Waqar launches Maison

LAHORE, 4-03-2016: Honey Waqar, the Couturier has been busy creating customized bridals for the past three decades. Now in fashion hub of Lahore----which is Gulberg, she launches her opulent studio cum store called ‘Maison---the Luxury Studio.’ This place will house her bridal collection, besides Formals and Pret a Porter collection.

Honey Waqar is a known name in haute couture business of Pakistan, and delves into the craftsmanship of traditional handwork, steeped in historical times; besides having a modern twist to her collection with contemporary era, especially from places that she has travelled far and wide. Each piece that you see is reflective of her personalized style which is unique and has been created with delicate precision.

‘Looking at the growing trend of consumerism, people not having luxury of immense time to setup appointments with designers and things becoming obsolete so quickly, we realized a desperate need of a store that would be stocking a lot of different lines of prêt under one roof to adhere to all sorts of aesthetical needs of our potential consumers,’ said Honey Waqar.

One should, watch out for cuts that vary in length, volume and diversity, in fabrics created from pure Italian silks, delicate sheers and  opulently woven textures ranging from Plush and Velvet to Brocades, French Chiffons, Crepes, Organza and Nets, each of which have been selected to complement otherwise bold forms.

She showcased her customized digital prints and easy-to-wear yet distinctive cuts in a sophisticated range that features zardozi work, semi-precious stone embellishments, thread works and dabka.

For the collection on display she has looked for inspiration towards the rich cultures of the world. A prototypically vivid yet timeless facet dons the signature silhouettes including contemporary cuts. Based in a myriad of colors, the palette is inspired by the festive colors. ‘My collection has elements of a couture line as I want to grab attention of high-end market. The things that I am focusing on for my prêt line include Interesting amalgamation of global trends and our cultural opulence, contemporary yet feminine silhouettes, fashion forwardness and my love for statement prints,’ asserts Waqar.

Her Studio launch was a very classy affair, with who’s who from the fashion, media and social scene present to welcome the new launch. A fashion presentation took place in which six models showcased Honey  Waqar’s diversified collection.
